The Spa at The Palace – The Old Town, the five-star premium hotel operated by The Address Hotels + Resorts, recently won the award for “Best Spa Signature Treatment” at the first annual Middle East Spa Awards.
Some 25 Spas competed at the Middle East Spa Awards with 45 entries across 5 categories. The awards aim to set a precedent for spas in the region and internationally, and evaluates the competencies of the Spa staff as well as the range and variety of the signature treatments.
Qualification for this award required an initial written presentation which included details of the signature treatments and its distinctive qualities. Additionally, the skills and competencies of the Spa therapists were reviewed.
The Spa at The Palace - The Old Town won the award for its signature treatment, “One Desert Journey,” which begins with a relaxing Foot Bath Ritual while the hands are bathed in Orange Blossom water. Guests can choose between four essences namely: Orange Blossom, Amber and Musk, Jasmine or Verbena of Morocco.
This is followed by a body scrub where real desert sand from the Sahara desert is combined with Argan Oil from Morocco. The massage combines techniques from the Orient as well as herbal pouches called “Khemmousa” which contain three types of mints from Morocco and the “Oussada” containing Coriander seeds. A vial of authentic desert sand is presented to the guest as a souvenir of their ‘One Desert Journey’ experience.
“This prestigious award is immensely motivating for the team and is a testament to the quality of service and variety of treatment options that The Spa provides,” said Jason Harding, General Manager at The Palace – The Old Town.
The appointed adjudication committee was provided with two mystery shopping vouchers to experience the spa. The welcome experience of The Spa served as the qualifying factor for auditing guidelines. The committee also received a detailed explanation of selection of treatments, the facilities available, the post treatment relaxations areas and the overall assistance provided by the staff.
