Souk al Bahar
In sharp contrast to the grandeur of The Dubai Mall, for a taste of something more rustic visit Souk Al Bahar, an Arabesque shopping mall and entertainment destination located in the heart of Downtown Dubai, on The Old Town Island. Souk Al Bahar which opened it doors in December 2007 is fast becoming Dubai's most vibrant waterside dining, shopping and entertainment experience and a must-see destination for tourists.
Souk Al Bahar (‘market of the sailor') derives its name from both its traditional souk architecture of natural stone corridors, high archways and subdued lighting and its unique ‘sea-side' location on the Burj Lake. The cultural theme flows throughout the mall, with boutique shops showcasing the Arabian heritage through a mix of authentic handicrafts, fashion and accessories.
The souk also features more than 22 restaurants and cafés framing the extensive waterfront promenade - truly defining itself as an entertainment and leisure destination.
